Shi Wanting
Shi Wanting is a Vancouver-based sustainable fashion artist whose work explores the intersection of fashion and nature, drawing inspiration from her Chinese heritage and Canadian upbringing. With a degree in Economics and Humanities from the University of British Columbia and a background in Fashion Design from Central Saint Martins and the London College of Fashion, Shi’s artistic journey began at an early age. Her love for nature, culture, and art continues to shine through in her work today.
Shi’s current and upcoming projects focus on creating sculptural garments using natural materials that decay, such as fallen autumn leaves and blooming cherry blossoms in spring. These materials are carefully assembled with inspiration from nature and ancient Chinese craftsmanship to tell a unique story.
Her goal is to raise awareness about the environmental impact of fast fashion and to advocate for a more sustainable, eco-conscious alternatives made from biodegradable fabrics that can naturally and gracefully decay. She believes that, with enough awareness and education, fashion can be both beautiful and sustainable—without harming the environment.
