Maja Lionello

Maja Lionello (b. 1994, Rome, Italy) is a figurative sculptor based in Vancouver, Canada. Working primarily with porcelain clay, she creates portrait sculptures exploring themes of identity and transformation often merging figurative art with functional ceramics.

Maja’s artistic journey began in her childhood with a passion for drawing but took an unexpected turn in 2015 after a broken right hand led her to explore sculpture as a form of physical rehabilitation. This experience sparked a profound spiritual and psychological journey, transforming her practice into a medium for emotional connection and storytelling. A largely self-taught artist, Maja refined her craft through years of experimentation.

Since relocating to Vancouver, she has worked with local artists to further develop her skills and establish her presence in the art world. Her work reflects a unique synthesis of classical techniques and contemporary themes, inviting viewers to engage with the human experience through the tactile beauty of ceramics.
