Miles van Yperen
Miles van Yperen is a mixed-media artist who grew up in North Burnaby and now lives on Burnaby Mountain near Simon Fraser University. Miles has always worked in arts-related environments, from sign shops to animation studios. As well, Miles has taught visual effects at the Vancouver Film School. Currently, he is an artist-in-residence at Malaspina Print Makers. My preferred medium is screen printing on wood panels. I print digitally manipulated photos that I have taken of a wide range of subject matters. I use up to 14 colours to create a posterized (non-tonal) image with a unique digital filter effect that could be described as psychedelic. My images are hand-printed onto hardboard or laminated pine boards. I enjoy experimenting with both two-dimensional and sculptural pieces.
