David Ives

Born in the UK, David (he/him) moved to Vancouver in 2014 with his family. His multifaceted career includes product design teaching, woodwork and sign making. He incorporates these skills in his artwork. David specializes in showcasing the beauty of reclaimed, salvaged and imperfect materials.

His current 'Mineralogy' collection explores colour, texture and balance using abstract mineral structures as a starting point of inspiration. Materials include reclaimed cedar, elk hide, leather and acrylic. His work is carefully fabricated using a blend of laser cutting, power tools and handcrafting techniques. He particularly enjoys the challenge of commissions where he can provide a high level of customization to meet exact specifications.

Each piece is original and handcrafted in Vancouver using locally sourced materials. David is grateful to live and work on the unceded Musqueam, Squamish & Tsleil-Waututh territories.
