Leah D'Ettore

Leah D'Ettore is a self-taught artist from Kingston, Ontario. She has been dabbling in art all her life in various forms from literature to embroidery to pottery, but painting is where she was spellbound by the process and emotive experience. Painting has become more to Leah than she anticipated. It is an act of joy – sometimes joy punctuated by sharp moments of panic, but that is how life works.

 

A mother of two, one of her driving goals with her art is to demonstrate to her kids that perseverance pays off. One of her favourite things to reference to them is Rocky, to show how there is no improvement without practice, and if they put the reps in, they can accomplish more than they ever expected.

 

Leah has lived in Canada all her life, so it is no surprise that northern flora and fauna find their way into all her pieces. While the subjects tend to be typically intimidating, she captures the moments of calm strength, nurturing, and humour.
