Ian Horsfield

Ian Horsfield is a painter hailing from the Canadian Pacific Northwest. His flat, hard edge abstractions invoke the forms and patterns of the natural world. Their bold positive negative contrasts draw the viewer into a contemplative world of repetitive forms and vibrant colour contrasts.

They draw inspiration from a wide range of sources including abstract expressionism, Canadian first nations, African art, natural forms, cell biology,  graffiti, op art, and psychedelic consciousness.

His figurative work, well maintaining a visual consistency of style, draws more from cubism, early christian art, mythology and modern super flat styles.
